Project Overview

For a large-scale winter light trail at a historic estate in the UK, the design team sought a solution to create a magical, immersive atmosphere across sprawling lawns and natural landscapes. The challenge was to deliver dynamic, weather-resistant lighting that could transform the grounds after dark, while complementing the venue’s heritage architecture and seasonal festive theme.

➜ Product & Solution

The team selected our 30cm DMX512 RGB LED Sphere Lights as the primary decorative element. These 30cm diameter spheres feature a frosted, milky white PE housing for uniform light diffusion, delivering smooth, color-changing illumination without harsh glare. Operating at DC24V and rated IP65 waterproof, they are built to withstand cold, damp British winter conditions, including rain, frost, and wind.

Each light was installed using a 265mm ground spike, allowing quick, tool-free placement directly into the lawns. This flexible setup enabled the design team to arrange the spheres in organic, flowing patterns that followed the natural contours of the landscape, creating a luminous path that guided visitors through the estate.

➜ Lighting Control & Effects

Thanks to DMX512 control, the spheres were fully integrated into the project’s lighting system, enabling synchronized color sequences, slow fades, and gentle pulsing effects. Programmed to transition through warm whites, soft golds, and festive reds and greens, the lights mirrored the warmth of the season while blending seamlessly with the venue’s other illuminated installations, including the fiery red light trails and glowing moon art pieces in the background.

➜ Results & Benefits
  • Immersive Visitor Experience: The soft, diffused glow of the spheres created a magical, otherworldly path that drew visitors deeper into the light trail, boosting engagement and social media sharing.
  • Weather-Resistant Reliability: The IP65 rating ensured consistent performance throughout the UK winter, with zero failures despite prolonged exposure to rain and cold temperatures.
  • Flexible Installation: The ground spike design allowed the team to adjust layouts quickly during setup, adapting to the terrain and refining the flow of the light trail as needed.
  • Dynamic Festive Appeal: DMX control enabled fully customizable color schemes, making the spheres suitable for both traditional Christmas themes and broader winter illumination concepts.
